Ken-Shu-Do
Dragon Karate Academy
Ken-Shu-Do is the name which was presented to our senior instructor Sensei George Campbell 7th Dan by Sensei Kimura, this great honour of having this name bestowed to George Campbell from Kimura was during 1975 whilst George was still a 1st Kyu (Brown Belt). The awarding of this name is a testament as to how George was favoured among others by Sensei Kimura.
This relationship between George Campbell and Kimura continued for many years with George being awarded his 1st Dan in 1976 and his 2nd Dan in 1979 by Sensei Kimura. It is due to this period of training and grading by George Campbell with Sensei Kimura and the fact that George was awarded the name of Ken-Shu-Do by Sensei Kimura personally, that, we as a club can honestly and legitimately claim we have a real and direct link to the teaching of Sensei Kimura’s Shukokai, and therefore we have the right to make use of and make reference to the name Ken-Shu-Do with traditional Kimura Shukokai karate-do.
This link to Sensei Kimura is made even stronger by the fact that 3 of our senior grades, Keith Morgan, Ralph Mcguire and Eric Hayes have also had the honour of meeting with and being instructed by Sensei Kimura.
